The Thrill of Victory and the Thrill of Defeat
Eric Geiger
For I passed on to you as most important what I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures… (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
…thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! (1 Corinthians 15:57)
His victory is our victory over sin.
If Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. (1 Corinthians 15:17)
His victory is our victory over death.
But as it is, Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead also comes through a man. For just as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. (1 Corinthians 15:20-22)
To receive Christ’s victory for you, Christ must have victory over you.
Reflection Question: How will you respond to the truth that Jesus’ victory is your victory? What would it look like for you to fully surrender to Him?
